On Funding Streams and Growing Audiences
Programmed as part of the Summer Campus 2014, PhotoIreland is delighted to present documentary photographer Rob Hornstra leading a no-nonsense workshop designed to strengthen your practice by helping you identify funding streams, and attract new audiences. It is all about giving you the tools to find a stable and self-sufficient practice. The workshop is ideal for artists and photographers.
Rob Hornstra will share his insight into best practices to follow for funding and marketing your project.
His very successful work The Sochi Project represents an outstanding example of how devising the right strategy can help make things happen. His project, developed together with writer and filmmaker Arnold van Bruggen, has been largely crowdfunded by more than 650 private donors between 2009 and 2013, with individual donations ranging from €10 to €1500.

Day 1 - Friday 4th July
10-1pm Funding Streams
It is simple: you need money to develop your project. Many artists and photographers produce work at their own financial cost. However, there are always funding sources available if you know where to look.
1-2pm Lunch Break
2-4pm Grow Your Audience
After all the hard work placed on funding and developing your project, why let it down on the promotion side? Learn how to make the most of your tools, resources, and strategies to promote your project, and get the attention it deserves. Learn to Do it Yourself.
Day 2 - Saturday 5th July
10-1pm Resources for Self-Sufficiency
In this session, Rob will share with participants practical information about publishers and the publishing process, dealing with pre-sales, and crowdfunding resources.
