When Jan-Dirk van der Burg (1978) bought a Fujica SLR for his nineteenth birthday, he dreamed of making photographs of female nedes in backlight and reports from war zones in grainy black and white.Thirteen years later his portfolio looks nothing like his early dreams. He photographed public municipal meetings, office culture and the dogpoop policy in The Netherlands. Dry comic moments on a typical Dutch foundation. He recently made a book about the phenomenon of desire lines, an passionate plea for pedestrians taking the shortest way from A to B. A monument to the most innocent form of civil disobedience.
